Ready for PPWR
Social Media Library Ready for PPWR, Ready for the Future 🚀 As global packaging regulations move toward a new standard, being prepared today means gaining a competitive advantage for tomorrow. On August 12, 2026, the European Union (EU) will fully enforce the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) (Regulation (EU) 2025/40) across all 27 member states. Covering the entire packaging lifecycle—from design and material selection to end-of-life management—PPWR represents the most significant packaging legislation introduced in Europe in over 30 years. At its core, PPWR promotes packaging designed for reuse, recyclability, and circularity. For SCGP, this is more than regulatory compliance—it is an opportunity to accelerate innovation and create long-term value for customers. Guided by our Circular Economy strategy, we continue to advance sustainable packaging through three key pillars:❇️ Innovation – Developing recyclable packaging solutions, including mono-material designs, increasing the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, and applying eco-design principles from the earliest design stage.❇️ Strategic Policy Alignment – Embedding Circular Economy into our long-term business strategy.❇️ Collaborative Ecosystem – Working closely with industry partners to promote sustainable packaging practices that align with both Thailand’s context and international standards. Today, 99.7% of SCGP’s packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable, and we are committed to reaching 100% by 2030 through continued investment in R&D and sustainable packaging innovation.* A notable example is Duy Tan, a member of SCGP, a leading rigid plastic packaging manufacturer in Vietnam. World Environment Day 2026
Social Media Library Every year on 5 June, the United Nations marks World Environment Day, first established in 1972 to raise awareness and inspire action to protect the environment. Today, people in more than 150 countries around the world participate in activities led by UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme). In 2026, the theme of World Environment Day is “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” — highlighting the climate crisis already unfolding today, from rising global temperatures and intensified wildfires to rising sea levels and melting glaciers. One of the key mechanisms to address climate change is the transition to clean energy, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a more sustainable future for all sectors. SCGP continues to advance Climate Action through its Energy Transition strategy, adopting solar energy since 2018 through both Solar Rooftop and Solar Farm projects across its subsidiaries in the region. To support the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030, in alignment with SCGP’s science-based targets validated by the SBTi and its commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. Today, SCGP has achieved a total installed solar power capacity of 75.8 MWp*. In 2025 alone, an additional 12.8 MWp was installed, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 9,330 tCO₂e. Since 2020, SCGP has reduced accumulated greenhouse gas emissions by more than 51,286 tCO₂e — a 13-fold increase within just six years. In 2026, SCGP also plans to further expand its solar power capacity by another 6.5 MWp. Inspired by this year’s World Environment Day theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”, SCGP is committed to translating Climate Action into tangible outcomes through the continuous expansion of clean energy. This supports energy security, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and strengthens the competitiveness of our customers’ businesses in the global arena, where environmental regulations are becoming increasingly important. Together, we continue to build a sustainable future for business, society, and our planet — today and for generations to come. *See page 43 at SCGP-Sustainability Report #SCGP #ESG #SCGPESG #WorldEnvironmentDay #ClimateAction Back to เนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวข้อง Loading…
PIR developing formulations with up to 30%
Social Media Library As Circular Economy becomes a key business framework, one of the biggest challenges is increasing recycling rates and managing waste right from the production stage. This is why PIR (Post-Industrial Recycled) has become one of the important approaches SCGP is adopting to drive sustainability forward. PIR refers to industrial leftover materials generated directly from manufacturing processes, such as defective parts or excess materials from molding. These materials can be immediately ground and reused in production without being processed back into plastic pellets. As a result, PIR materials remain clean, odor-free, uncontaminated, and maintain properties close to virgin materials. This differs from PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled), which comes from used packaging and requires additional sorting, cleaning, and recycling processes before being reused, resulting in more complex management and higher costs. SCGP has successfully applied PIR in rigid polymer packaging production, currently developing formulations with up to 30% PIR content under strict quality control standards. Every production lot undergoes comprehensive testing, including compression strength, drop impact resistance, and color consistency, ensuring packaging quality, durability, and surface finish remain comparable to virgin material packaging. By integrating PIR into production, SCGP helps maximize resource efficiency, reduce industrial waste, and advance Circular Economy practices while maintaining packaging performance and quality standards. Because waste materials can be transformed into new business value while contributing to environmental sustainability, SCGP continues to move forward as a trusted packaging solutions partner for sustainable growth. #ESG #SCGPESG #Carbonfootprint #Sustainable #packagingsolutions #sustainablepackaging #PIR #CircularEconomy Back to เนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวข้อง Loading…
International Day for Biological Diversity
Social Media Library Biodiversity is the vital foundation of ecosystems, economies, and quality of life. Recognizing its importance, the United Nations has designated May 22 of every year as the International Day for Biological Diversity to remind us that abundant natural resources are at the heart of sustaining life on Earth. SCGP believes that meaningful change begins at the local level, because every effort to care for even a small area can create a positive impact on a global scale. This belief is reflected in the company’s Nature Positive ambition, which aims to halt nature loss by 2030 and restore ecosystems to full health by 2050 through systematic and responsible land management. One of SCGP’s key approaches is the management of eucalyptus plantations under FSC™ standards alongside community forest conservation, ensuring that land utilization can grow in harmony with both nature and local communities. Currently, SCGP manages more than 55,369 rai of FSC™ certified plantations, while allocating over 6,212 rai, or 11.2% of the total area, for conservation purposes — exceeding FSC™ requirements. These areas are also subject to biodiversity surveys conducted every two years in collaboration with experts from the Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University, and Thailand’s forest ecology research network to monitor the return of plant species and wildlife within the ecosystem. A clear example can be seen in Nong Hua Wua Community, Kamphaeng Phet Province, where the community has worked together with Siam Forestry Co., Ltd. in SCGP, to establish a systematic forest management approach. The results have shown significant improvements in forest abundance, the return of wildlife, and better quality of life for local residents. According to the 2025 survey, the area was found to contain as many as 82 plant species from 37 families, with the Shannon-Wiener biodiversity index rated at a high level,* demonstrating that commercial plantations and rich natural ecosystems can truly grow together in harmony. In addition, SCGP’s FSC™ certified plantation areas are capable of storing more than 308,949 tCO₂e** of carbon. SCGP also utilizes CERT+ technology, integrating satellite systems and AI to accurately assess carbon sequestration. At the same time, the company encourages community participation through community forest models and the “Eucalyptus Along Canal Banks” project, which helps create jobs, generate income, and strengthen livelihoods for people in local communities. SCGP is also moving forward with plans to expand certified plantation areas by another 10,000 rai and restore an additional 1,000 rai of conservation forest by 2027. All of these efforts demonstrate that sustainable land management can effectively restore ecosystems, generate income for communities, and improve quality of life at the same time. * Shannon-Wiener Index** Sustainability Report 2025, pages 50–53 #SCGP #ESG #SCGPESG #InternationalDayforBiologicalDiversity Back to เนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวข้อง Loading…
