SCGP received 5 quality awards for packaging design from ‘WORLD STAR AWARDS 2023’

News SCGP received 5 quality awards for packaging design from ‘WORLD STAR AWARDS 2023’ Previous slide Next slide Loading Data… SCGP has built a reputation on the global and Asian packaging design stage by supporting our designers until they won 5 quality awards from their packaging design that showed creativity, beauty, convenience, value-adding, versatility and helped promoting sales, and environmentally-friendly use in the ‘WORLD STAR AWARDS 2023’ and ‘ASIASTAR 2022 AWARDS’. SCG Packaging Public Company Limited or SCGP has been successful in packaging design in the international and Asia stage because of the determination to develop packaging that truly meets customer needs, has beautiful patterns and designs, attracts consumers and helps promote product sales. Recently, designers from Thai Containers Group Co., Ltd. in SCGP have won a total of 5 awards from the WORLD STAR AWARDS 2023 held by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). This year, a total of 440 entries in 16 categories from 37 countries were submitted to the competition. The team of designers also received awards from ASIASTAR 2022 AWARDS organized by the ASIAN PACKAGING FEDERATION. In WORLD STAR AWARDS 2023, SCGP designers won two awards. The first one is “the Winning Award in the Luxury Package category” from the Moon Cake box “Looking Through the Moon” by Tavita Ratanaya and Suchanat Chidthai who designed a 4- piece box set for mooncakes. The outstanding feature is a mechanism to rotate the image of the moon on the front of the box which implies the passing of time and a family reunion. The adding of Chinese auspicious characters means the delivery of good things to recipients. In addition, the box set is good value for money and environmentally- friendly because it can be re-packaged and reused. The second one is “the Winning Award in Point of Sale (a product stand) category” from “Point of Purchase” by team of designers that included Rinrada Anuwatmongkol, Pathitta Sirirerkratana, Phaninthorn Ruangwaeomanee and Pasa Juichum from Thai Containers Group Co., Ltd. They designed a product stand made of paper for 3M. It is lightweight, easy to assemble without using glue, and packed in a compact packaging that does not use a lot of space. The design was inspired by the geometric shapes of school buildings and school buses. This product stand is used at the point of sale to persuade children and families to shop stationery. In addition, the stand is designed to enable products to be seen in 360 degrees, opening for more visibility and providing more shelf space than general product stand. In “ASIASTAR 2022 AWARDS”, we received three quality awards. The first group is the two Winning Awards in the Gift Package category; the first award is “The Art of Hand Crafted” by Tavita Ratanaya who designed a gift basket that can be used as a storage box for small items. The inspiration of the design came from a regular box and a pattern of applied Thai silk. The body is made of E-flute corrugated containers, produced by a digital printing system. The handle is a gold ribbon with elegant graphic design, strong enough to bear a lot of weight; the second one is “The Lucky Fortune Gift Set” by Kritchaporn Kulrattanarak and Suriya Pimcoat who designed a gift set box for soap and fortune cookies. The structure of the box is compact, using the tassel strap extending from the box to facilitate carrying. The box comes with cushioning parts which can contain 4 different shaped soaps. The box itself can be hung for decoration. The last award is the Winning Award in the Transport Package category (packaging for transportation) from the entry called “Ready to Share – Ready to Show” by Thanaporn Worawas and Kritchaporn Kulrattanarak who incorporated three factors: transportation system, retail, and outstanding display into the design. The box is stackable and suitable for transportation. A perforation is added so that the box can be easily torn to show products inside, making it more convenient for shoppers. The Pop-Up mechanism combined with the design increases the outstandingness of the products on the shelf. The designer also took the cost-effective use of paper into consideration and came up with this environmentally-friendly packaging. The awards are the pride of SCGP. They give inspiration to our designers to create user-friendly products while responding to the need for responsible use of resources. SCGP is ready to support the continuous development of innovative designs to elevate the packaging industry in Thailand. Related Contents Loading Data…

Join UN Women and the United Nations in celebrating under the theme DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.

News Join UN Women and the United Nations in celebrating under the theme DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. Loading Data… This International Women’s Day, 8 March 2023, join UN Women and the United Nations in celebrating under the theme DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. From the earliest days of computing to the present age of virtual reality and artificial intelligence, women have made untold contributions to the digital world in which we increasingly live. Their accomplishments have been against all odds, in a field that has historically neither welcomed nor appreciated them. Today, a persistent gender gap in digital access keeps women from unlocking technology’s full potential. Their underrepresentation in STEM education and careers remains a major barrier to their participation in tech design and governance. And the pervasive threat of online gender-based violence—coupled with a lack of legal recourse—too often forces them out of the digital spaces they do occupy. At the same time, digital technology is opening new doors for the global empowerment of women, girls and other marginalized groups. From gender-responsive digital learning to tech-facilitated sexual and reproductive healthcare, the digital age represents an unprecedented opportunity to eliminate all forms of disparity and inequality. This 8 March, we are calling on governments, activists and the private sector alike to power on in their efforts to make the digital world safer, more inclusive and more equitable. Facing a multiplicity of global crises, we have a chance to create a better future—not just for women and girls, but for all humanity and all life on Earth. PAITOON PAPER BOX GROWS SUSTAINABLY WITH QUALITIES & STANDARDS

ข่าว PAITOON PAPER BOX GROWS SUSTAINABLY WITH QUALITIES & STANDARDS Loading Data… PAITOON PAPER BOX GROWS SUSTAINABLY WITH QUALITIES & STANDARDS “Paitoon Paper Box” materialized after its founder decided to accept a senior figure’s invitation to step into the packaging industry. Throughout its journey, the company has pursued constant learning and development for the purposes of upholding quality and upgrading its business operations. Today, its founder’s son Mr. Puniapon Muangsiri serves as its Managing Director. Taking up the torch now, this top executive is here to talk about his company’s establishment and guiding principles in the face of changing situations. LEARNING IS BEGINNING “Our company was founded around 1978 after a senior figure invited my dad to do a packaging business together. He intended to set up a small plant in Bang Bon and trusted in my dad’s abilities and machinery expertise. In the beginning, the plant hired just three workers. My dad, who used to work in other businesses, learnt how to make various types of corrugated boxes from that senior figure himself. “After a while, a customer told my dad that purchase volume would increase by about 10 folds. My dad grasped that opportunity by quickly installing more machines to fulfill the growing purchase orders. Thanks to bigger capacity and production volume, we had more bargaining power in raw-material sourcing. We therefore could lower costs significantly, paving the way for our business to grow further. In 1996, our business expansion focused on Backward Integration. In other words, we started producing corrugated cardboards ourselves to save time and cost. We have since been able to handle urgent jobs and answer customers’ needs with greater efficiency. Moreover, we have imported, distributed, and installed packaging-production machines too because we have had solid experience and expertise in the field. About 99 percent of our machines come from Japan. We have installed and maintained them on our own.” GROWING WITH QUALITIES & STANDARDS Today, Mr. Punjapon has taken over the company from his father. The business environment now is far different from what it was more than 40 years ago, though. In his view, qualities and standards are key factors for the company’s further growth. “Unlike in the past, we now have to study international standards and practices to upgrade our business and standing, as well as support environmental & social care. Our raw materials and production process must be friendly to the environment. Currently, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is there to certify which materials come from manmade forests. International labor laws also govern where to source materials. It is therefore necessary that our human-resource development is good enough to ensure that our workforce can deal with emerging changes. Only when we are able to adapt efficiently, can we maintain customers’ trust. We need to assure our customers that we are always ready to deliver quality products and meet the latest standards. The quality of our products is controlled by labs with moisture and temperature control to ensure full compliance with customers’ requirements. “We have been learning and adjusting all the time. During the past five years, our approach has worked great and driven our business growth well. We therefore intend to keep up this standard. This way, we should be able to meet the needs of even the most demanding customers. We will keep up with ongoing trends even though we may need to shoulder more expenses.” BUSINESS UPGRADE WITH RIGHT PARTNERS “I would like to thank SCGP for its constant support. When we started producing corrugated cardboards, SCGP helped us with raw materials that had good quality and came with a very reasonable price tag. Thanks to its support, our business has been growing. When we develop key projects with our major customers that require FSC CoC (Chain of Custody) certifications,SCGP provides us with solutions. Not only that SCGP delivers quality paper, but it always has enough supply to fulfill our demand. The company has delivered all goods without failure even during the COVID-19 crisis. “Our customers now place a strong emphasis on resource efficiency. So, we have done lots of homework to respond to their demand. Through our collaboration with SCGP, we can curb paper consumption by 15 percent without compromising quality. We have produced such products for five consecutive years now. “Moreover, I am impressed with SCGP’s sales and technical teams. They always tend to our needs, be they about quality, specific requirements, or improvements. They conduct analyses, provide information, and follow up with feedback to help us solve customers’ pain points and deliver increasingly better products. In the future, we will expand our production to Corner Protection guards, Duplex, and various other products in response to our customers’ changing needs. We will together partner with SCGP for sustainable growth.” เนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวข้อง Loading Data…

News SCGP recorded BHT 146 billion revenue with 18% growth in 2022, 2023 plan driven by investment into high potential segments, expedites innovation and total packaging solutions amidst the economic recovery Previous slide Next slide Loading Data… SCGP has released 2022 operating results with revenue of Baht 146,068 million, an increase of 18% from the same period of last year. The growth is attributed to merger and partnership (M&P), and continuous organic expansions. Meanwhile, profit has dropped with impact from lower sales volume and higher energy prices. Looking forward to 2023, overall outlook of the packaging industry is projected to be improved with support from China’s country reopening. The company has targeted a continuous growth in revenue to Baht 160,000 million while laid out 5 strategies to strengthen the business amidst economic recovery, including the expansion of packaging & adjacent businesses with high growth potential, the development of innovation & packaging solutions, enhancing operational excellence throughout the supply chain, proactive management to drives resiliency, and the focus on sustainable development driven by ESG 4 Plus. Mr. Wichan Jitpukdee, Chief Executive Officer, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited, or SCGP, has announced that the 2022 performance continued to grow amidst challenging factors. The sales revenue was Baht 146,068 million, 18 percent growth year-on-year, with main contribution from production capacity expansion and M&P, full-year financial consolidation of completed M&P in Duy Tan, Intan Group and Deltalab, and partial revenue consolidation of Peute and Jordan; and lastly, the product prices adjustment in line with rising costs. Meanwhile, EBITDA was Baht 19,402 million, 8-percent drop from the same period of last year. The profit was Baht 5,801 million, or a 30-percent drop from the previous year, attributed to heightened energy costs and lower sales volume amidst softened packaging paper demand globally and regionally as an effect from stringent lockdown in China. In the fourth quarter of 2022, the revenue of SCGP was Baht 33,509 million, a drop of 5%, with EBITDA at Baht 3,554 million, a 34-percent drop year-on-year. Profit for the period was Baht 450 million, a drop of 79 percent year-on-year. These were a result of the slowdown in packaging paper demand and price, particularly in Indonesia and Vietnam. Meanwhile, with gradual opening of countries in ASEAN region, fiber and polymer packaging demand which are related to daily consumer consumption, such as food and beverage, continued to grow from the previous quarter. SCGP has laid out investment plan of Baht 100,000 million for the period of 5 years (2021-2025) with the goal to achieve the revenue of Baht 200,000 million in 2025. During 2021-2022, SCGP invested approximately Baht 37,000 million mainly through M&P and capacity expansion in growing business with high growth opportunities. The successful returns amid the challenging economic crisis was a manifest to efficient business model with solid strategic direction toward future growth of SCGP. In consideration of the FY2022 financial performance, the Board of Directors has proposed for shareholder approval at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), a full year 2022 annual dividend payment of 0.60 Baht per share, of which 0.25 Baht per share was previously paid as an interim dividend on 24 August 2022. The final dividend payment of 0.35 Baht per share will be on 24 April 2023, record date of 5 April 2023, and XD-date of 4 April 2023. The CEO said that the overall outlook of the packaging industry in the first quarter of 2023 is heading toward a continued recovery as China has started to re-open the country. Additionally, ASEAN region will be beneficiary of tourism recovery, import & export, and the normalization of supply chain of manufacturing sector. These factors exert a positive effect on the overall economy and the consumption of products while bolstering the demand for packaging. However, the ongoing challenges include a prolonged volatility within global economy, high inflationary pressures, interest rate hikes and a fall in consumers’ purchasing power in many regions such as the European Union and North America, which are major customer bases of the ASEAN export business sector. SCGP is closely monitoring the market situation and proactively prepare to support and fulfill a growing packaging demand amidst the economic recovery. The company gears up the operation to continue the business growth with this year’s revenue target of Baht 160,000 million. Listed below are 5 core strategies as pathways toward the target: 1. Expedition of growth through focused M&P, expansion of packaging and related businesses with high growth potential especially in consumer products, healthcare related products, Medical supply & Labwares. Efforts to capture internal synergy are carried out via the knowledge and technology sharing, customer network expansion and co-sourcing of raw materials to enhance overall capability and operational efficiency. The investment budget for this year has been set at Baht 18,000 million. 2. Continuous development of innovations and packaging solutions, collaboration with customers to develop innovations and value-accretive packaging solutions to meet the evolving consumers’ lifestyles. Budget for research, development and innovation spending is set at Baht 800 million. 3. Enhance supply chain integration, further strengthen the business via operational excellence by applying data-driven approach and automation system to analyze, forecast and optimize the efficiency of production and productivity. Using data analytics to ensure data visibility throughout the supply chain (end-to-end). 4. Proactive management and effective planning to cope with uncertainties, regular risk management and planning are carried out as preparation for surging interest rate environment along with prudent cash and CAPEX management. Expand portfolio to cover new growth markets, i.e., South Asia, Middle East, Southern Africa. 5. Driving the business through the ESG 4 Plus concept. Goals and action plans are clearly identified with target to enlarge the proportion of environmentally friendly packaging while increase the recyclability rate of all products to 100% in 2025. Meanwhile, GHG emission reduction efforts are being executed as planned in order to achieve Net Zero in 2050. Related Content Loading Data…
