SCGP has announced completion of the 75% share acquisition of Intan Group, a leading producer of corrugated containers in Indonesia, with a customer base of companies in the food and beverages and consumer goods industries. This transaction expands on the entire range of production, supply chain and packaging development from upstream to downstream in response to an expanding ASEAN market. Revenue recognition begins in August this year. Mr. Wichan Jitpukdee, Chief Executive Officer, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited, SCGP reports that the Company has continuously invested in the ASEAN region. Indonesia is one of the countries with a long-term growth potential, and SCGP has a strategic interest in expanding its fiber-based packaging business there following its presence in the country since 2013 to cover all facets of packaging operations in order to fiber-based packaging development. The Company currently has interests through investment in five subsidiary companies in Indonesia. Most recently, on August 13, 2021, SCGP has announced the completion of its 75% merger and partnership (M&P)investment in PT Indonesia Dirtajaya Aneka Industri Box, PT Bahana Buana Box and PT Rapipack Asritama (collectively, “Intan Group”) which follows the previous disclosure to The Stock Exchange of Thailand on May, 10, 2021.This transaction is through TCG Solutions Pte. Ltd. (“TCGS”), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Thai Containers Group Company Limited (or “TCG”), a 70:30 joint venture between SCGP and Rengo Company Limited, Japan. Payment for the 75% M&P stake is the immediate 822 billion rupiah (approximately 1,997 million Baht), followed by the second payment which will be based on Intan Group’s incremental financial performance for FY2022 and FY2023, and when combined with the first payment will be no more than the total of 859 billion rupiah (approximately 2,088 million Baht). Intan’s financial performance will be consolidated from August 2021 onward. Intan Group is one of Indonesia’s leading corrugated containers producers and operates in 4 strategic locations, namely Surabaya in East Java, Semarang in Central Java, Bekasi in West Java, and Minahasa in North Sulawesi. Its clients are in the food, beverage and consumer segments. Intan Group recorded revenue of approximately 1,329 billion rupiah (approximately 3,231 million Baht), core net profit after tax of approximately 65 billion rupiah (approximately 158 million Baht) and had assets of approximately 755 billion rupiah (approximately 1,836 million Baht) at the end of FY2020. “Our increased investment in Indonesia will enable us to strengthen the production, research and development, and marketing as well as introduce a diverse range of products and complete packaging solutions to respond to the expanding ASEAN market. Moreover, it reaffirms our commitment and belief in Indonesia’s strong economic growth,” Mr. Wichan says.
SCGP maintains healthy growth with first half-year earnings of THB57,148M And with plan for progressive growth in the year’s second half
SCGP earns a revenue of baht 57,148 million during the first half of this year, up 24% from the year before, maintaining strong growth from increasing demand for packaging products, expanding export in ASEAN, higher production capacity, and successful merger and partnership (M&P) strategy. The second half of the year expects to see closure of deals in Indonesia and Spain, increasing collaboration with partners as well as boosting capacity in ASEAN to ensure continuous growth. Mr. Wichan Jitpukdee, Chief Executive Officer, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited, SCGP announces that SCGP’s performance during the first half of 2021 yielded a total sales revenue of baht 57,148 million, an increase of 24% from the same period last year and a profit of baht 4,398 million, an increase of 21%. Meanwhile, its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, excluding dividends from partner companies but including profits or losses from currency exchange on loans) of baht 10,831 million is an increase of 23% from last year. The increased revenue from sales was the result of rising demands for packaging products and increased exports in ASEAN of such products as consumer goods, food, and frozen food, as well as economic recoveries from the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, Europe and China. While increased energy costs and shortages of freight containers exert pressure on performance, the Company continues to improve its cost management and operations to enhance competitiveness. At the same time, the Company has been able to earn an increase in revenue through maintaining its leadership as an integrated packaging solutions provider in ASEAN and its planned expansion through merger and partnership (M&P) with Bien Hoa Packaging Joint Stock Company (SOVI) of Vietnam and investment in Go-Pak UK Limited to enable expansion in other regions. Past endeavors to increase capacity include increasing production of paper packaging in Indonesia as well as set up production of performance and polymer packaging products in Thailand. “SCGP has been able to maintain steady growth. This is the result of our planning a growth strategy encompassing expansion of our current business operations and M&P both here and abroad. We expect that in 2021 we will invest no less than baht 20 billion to expand our customer base to cover multiple industries, and add diverse packaging portfolios as well as increase research and development of innovations, work processes and business models in order to come up with packaging solutions that respond to individual customer’s needs. We’ll also look at improving cost management on a continuous basis,” says Mr. Wichan. On 27 July 2021, the Board of Directors of SCGP has approved a H1/2021 interim dividend payment of 0.25 Baht/Share (Baht 1,073 million), which is payable on August 25, 2021 (XD-date on August 9, 2021, and record date on August 10, 2021). Mr. Wichan adds: “As for the industry outlook for the last half of the year we expect to receive positive impacts from the US and Europe’s economic recovery. Having said that, there remain uncertainties arising from the COVID-19 pandemic impacting the economy, especially in ASEAN. However, for the latter half of the year, SCGP will try to sustain growth with projected sales for the entire year of no less than 100,000 million baht. The Company will operate according to its strategic plan with a project to boost production capacity, which is to increase production of paper foodservice packaging for an addition of 1,615 million pieces a year in Thailand and Vietnam, which is expected to begin commercial operation by the third quarter of this year. Moreover, the production capacity for paper packaging in the Philippines will be increased by 220,000 tons per year while production of flexible polymer packaging in Thailand is to be increased by 53 million square meters per year by the fourth quarter of the year. “SCGP also has initiated M&P projects, the latest of which took place on July 23, 2021, when we acquired 70% of Duy Tan Plastics Manufacturing Corporation (Duy Tan), Vietnam’s leading producer of rigid plastic packaging products. In addition, we are in the process of closing deals in the third quarter of 2021, including the acquisition of 75% of PT Indonesia Dirtajaya Aneka Industri Box, PT Bahana Buana Box, and PT Rapipack Asritama (Intan Group), to expand our paper packaging operations in Indonesia. We have also acquired 85% of shares in Spain’s Deltalab, S.L. to enhance our potential to provide services and support the growth of our medical supplies and labware at the global level. SCGP will maintain strength by collaborating with our partners to achieve sustained growth along with special attention to environmental, social and governance (ESG) concerns,” Mr. Wichan adds.

Mr. Wichan Jitpukdee, Chief Executive Officer, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited, SCGP reports that SCGP has continuously increased investment in Vietnam during the past decade, integrating businesses dealing in packaging paper, fiber-based packaging, and flexible packaging with the aim at meeting demands of customers and consumers in Vietnam and the ASEAN region, which are witnessing sustained growth, and jointly developing products with an eye toward expanding the Vietnamese and export markets. In the latest investment, on July 23, 2021, SCGP has announced the completion of of its 70% merger and partnership (M&P) investment in Duy Tan Plastics Manufacturing Corporation (Duy Tan), Vietnam’s leading producer of rigid plastic packaging products, which follows the previous disclosure to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on February 9, 2021. Duy Tan’s financial performance will be consolidated from August 2021 onward. Duy Tan is Vietnam’s leading producer of rigid plastic packaging products with five manufacturing facilities. Its B2B clients are multinational companies and local consumer goods producers of leading brands in Vietnam while B2C clients are provided with home products under Duy Tan brand, such as food wares and containers which are distributed widely within Vietnam through over 16,000 retail outlets, wholesalers and supermarkets. On a last twelve months basis (Q3/2020 – Q2/2021), Duy Tan recorded revenue of approximately 5,025 billion VND (approximately 7,170 million Baht), net profit after tax of approximately 650 billion VND (approximately 930 million Baht) and had assets of approximately 5,000 billion VND (approximately 7,130 million Baht). “This acquisition will enable SCGP to provide a complete line of packaging products and expertise to better meet specific needs of consumers. In addition, it helps leveraging technological operational strength and resource pooling across operations,” Mr. Wichan says. “Moreover, this transaction affirms SCGP’s commitment to contribute to the economic growth and the development of plastic industry in Vietnam.”

Perspective of Sangchai Wiriyaumpaiwong: Steps Toward Sustainable Growth
Over 30 Years of Experience After his graduation in 1987, Mr. Sangchai joined Siam Kraft Industry Co., Ltd. (Banpong Plant) as an R&D engineer. He would later oversee its quality and environmental works too before being transferred to the Wangsala Plant to supervise its manufacturing in 2003. He was finally promoted as Director – Banpong Plant and then as Director – Wangsala Plant. In 2013, he took an overseas posting for the first time. “I was posted to Vina Kraft Paper Co., Ltd. in Vietnam. Back then, the Vietnamese market was growing very fast. So, I decided to install the second paper manufacturing machine for Vina Kraft in 2016. Not only that the installation was completed five months early, but it also marked the first time European and Chinese technologies were combined for paper manufacturing. In 2018, I was summoned back to Thailand to serve in my current post,” Mr. Sangchai revealed. 4 Key Principles for Fruitful Collaboration At plants, Mr. Sangchai’s focus was on manufacturing efficiency. But now that he has become an executive, his focus is on the overall picture and how to direct all involved toward the same direction. “My main job responsibility is to coordinate with SCGP’s packaging paper manufacturers in Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia to achieve synergy for the firm’s maximum benefits. I always apply the following four key principles: 1. Teamwork – when working together, all involved must talk and present their different opinions. Conclusions can then be made together. It is better than working solo; 2. Common Goal – with a shared goal and a holistic viewpoint, it is easier to achieve collaboration and synergy for maximum benefits within a specified timeframe; 3. Cheer Up – I provide counseling and support as all involved work toward the goal. I recognize small wins and offer praise; and 4. Challenge – I nudge my team to think fresh and try something new all the time. While the COVID-19 crisis reduces opportunities for team members to meet up, the firm has provided a solid infrastructure for the team to work online with least obstacles.” Sustainability-Themed Business Operations SCGP has embraced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) concept in its operations. By addressing key sustainability topics, SCGP has maintained well-balanced output. “We have balanced all ESG elements. For the environment, we pay attention to water, air, and waste issues with an emphasis on maximum resource efficiency,” Mr. Sangchai explained. “For society, we take care of our customers, vendors, staff, and local communities. Mutual communications let us know what they want. For example, when we know what communities need, we use our expertise to fulfill them. As communities have local products, we offer distribution channels to support their income generation,” he continued. “We also ensure our plants are safe and friendly to the environment for mutual coexistence with local people. As an organization, SCGP maintains good ties with neighbors for our sustainable growth,” he added. “Last but not least, we have accorded importance to corporate governance, risk management, and innovation development. As we constantly develop our products, we are able to fulfill our customers’ needs,” he concluded. Constant Knowledge Seeking & Self-Improvement “I have always improved myself with constant search for more knowledge. I have learned more from various sources such as the internet and experienced people. I always look for tips that will enhance my work approach. At the end of each workday, I reflect on what I did well and what I think I could improve,” Mr. Sangchai revealed. In his view, data analytic and automation help him get jobs done faster without compromising quality. Machine learning and artificial intelligence (Al), just like innovations, deliver useful contributions. “I would like to encourage all of you to work as a team. Let’s work together in earnest and with consistency to achieve our common goals!” he added.
Pro May : “INSPIRATION”…can be Created & Passed Forward
While inspirations give a start to some dreams, it takes determination to make a dream come true. Whenever these two elements are combined, success can happen anytime, anywhere, to anyone. P-Story features the life of Ariya Jutanugarn, better known as Pro May, in this volume because this young Thai became the world’s No. 1 female golfer at the age of just 21. Even though she missed a golden opportunity in her teenage years, she has managed to come back in grand style. Lately, she has also become the first Thai to win Honda LPGA Thailand. Mindset for Success Other than having a supportive family and extensive training, Ariya herself has developed a good mindset. Her sports career started because she enjoyed playing golf and dreamed of taking care of her family. Her determination has then given her wings, paving way for her to become the world’s No. 1 female professional golfer in 2017. The top spot, however, did not make her as happy as she thought it would do. Instead, the pressure kept piling up as she became more afraid of failure. But rather than getting stuck with that fear, she has redefined her “goal”. When she steps into a match, she sets her sight on the new goal of establishing a foundation for poor children – something that could be fulfilled if she was the champion. In the middle of 2018, she was ranked No. 1 for the second time. This time, delight filled her heart because she knew the value of her new goal. “I don’t focus on winning anymore. I just think that I will make myself proud today. This way, my performance is better than expected,” Ariya reveals. Inspiring Role Model Despite her immense success, Ariya has faced several challenges and disappointments. She has braved through them all by understanding that things keep changing and problems will make her stronger. Ariya says she has started from zero and thus should not be afraid of starting from scratch again. She is determined to enjoy all aspects of her life every single day. When obstacles prove self- confidence. She does not compare herself with others, because she recognizes that everyone is different. Thanks to her inspiring character, Ariya has been an idol to many including professional golfer Atthaya Thitikul. During a 2017 interview, Atthaya revealed that she refused to give up hard training because of Ariya, who proves a success comes from huge efforts. Today, Atthaya has been training hard and shown great discipline as she focuses on doing well for her family. Path to Success 2000 Ariya started playing golf at the age of 5 with her parents as her coaches. 2003 She won a runner-up in Junior World tournaments in the United States. 2012 She turned into a professional golfer. 2013 – She attracted sponsorship, accumulating enough cash prizes to fulfill her dream of supporting her family financially.Just months after becoming a professional golfer, her shoulder was dislocatedduring training. Following hospitalization, she needed to adjust her swing to stay on professional-golfer track. 2015 She had been eliminated in 10 consecutive contests. The disappointment was so big that she almost stopped playing golf professionally. 2016 She was named Rolex Player of the Year and received the biggest cash prize in LPGA. 2017 She became the world’s No. 1 female golfer for the first time. 2018 She won all big prizes in LPGA Tour and being named Rolex Player of the Year. Not only that she received the biggest cash prizes from LPGA, but she also earned the Vare Trophy (for the player with the lowest scoring average for the season). 2019 Pro May the Movie, which features Ariya and her elder sister (also a professional golfer), was screened.
