Elephant Gypsum Collaborates with SCGP to Develop Eco-Friendly Gypsum Board Reinforcing Commitment Toward Net Zero for a Sustainable World

Siam Gypsum Industry (Saraburi) Co., Ltd., or “Elephant Gypsum” has partnered with SCG Packaging Public Company Limited or SCGP to achieve a major sustainability milestone. Together, they have developed a certified Carbon Footprint Reduction Label (CFR) paper for use as raw material in the production of Elephant Gypsum Board, which itself has been certified the Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP) label by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization). This initiative supports the rapidly growing global Green Construction trend and marks a concrete step forward in advancing Thailand’s construction materials industry toward its Net Zero goal.
Mr. Paiboon Thanomkitchai, Sales Director of Siam Gypsum Industry (Saraburi) Co., Ltd., stated that as a construction materials business, Elephant Gypsum prioritizes the development of products that deliver not only quality but also sustainability. The new Elephant Gypsum Board made from environmentally friendly paper offers customers—both residential and commercial—an eco-conscious building material solution that combines performance, value, and environmental responsibility.
“This collaboration stems from our shared goal of achieving Net Zero. Together with SCGP, we developed a systematic approach to enhance production processes across the entire value chain—from design and manufacturing to delivery—ensuring maximum environmental responsibility. The Elephant Gypsum Board has been certified the Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP) label by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization),” said Mr. Paiboon.
Mr. Wichan Charoenkitsupat, Chief Operating Officer, Packaging Paper Business, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited or SCGP, added that SCGP continues to drive sustainable business under the ESG framework. The company focuses on carbon reduction through a transition to renewable energy, while co-developing sustainable packaging solutions with its customers. All products are verified with carbon footprint certification throughout the production process, helping customers manage and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across their entire supply chain.
“SCGP has worked with Elephant Gypsum for over 20 years, sharing a common commitment to the Net Zero journey. Recently, we developed paper for gypsum board production with enhanced strength and 100% recycled paper content. This paper has been certified with the Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) label by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, achieving at least a 2% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to the 2020 baseline. SCGP also aims to further cut emissions from gypsum board paper by 38% by 2030. This strengthens our customers’ Scope 3 management and sets a new benchmark for the construction materials industry toward a more sustainable future. SCGP and Elephant Gypsum will continue to co-develop innovations and solutions that meet customer needs while driving sustainable growth,” said Mr. Wichan.
