Recently, SCGP represented by Mr. Wichan Jitpukdee, Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Karan Tejasen, Chief Operating Officer Performance and Polymer Packaging Business signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Research and Development with Naresuan University represented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Piratorn Punyaratabandhu, Vice President of Naresuan University and Asst. Prof. Dr. Peerasak Chaiprasart, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment. The signing was witnessed by Prof. Emeritus Kasem Watanachai, M.D., Chairman of SCG’s CSR Committee for Sustainable Development.
With this cooperation, both organizations will join hand in researching and developing Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), containing fresh agricultural products for export. The packaging is able to absorb ethylene and help prolong the freshness and prevent quality decline in fresh fruits and vegetables. Currently, the university is studying the use of MAP with Barracuda mangoes. Laser Perforation and Compounding technologies from Product and Technology Development Center, SCGP are also used in the packaging design and production process. The MoU signing is a good start for mutual support and research expansion in order to upgrade and promote the food and fresh agricultural product industry, which is considered the main industry of Thailand.
